本種は熱帯から亜熱帯に広く分布し、バナナを含む様々な植物の害虫としても知られている。日本では北海道から奄美大島で記録があり、パッションフルーツ等の果実、野菜や観葉植物などを加害する。本州では主にハウス内で発生が見られるが、最近、多摩川沿いや三浦半島で野外からも採集されている。

This species is widely distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions, and is known as a pest of many kinds of crops including bananas. In Japan, it has been recorded from Hokkaido to Amami Is., but has been occurred in the green house at the temperate region. Recently, however, it is collected from the fields in the Kanto-region of Honshu.
